I only see one monkey...and a bunch of tiny brine shrimp. OK, seriously though...Lydia bought a friend some Sea Monkeys for her birthday, and Julia was so facinated by the idea that she had to have her own...and today they HATCHED! Labels: Kids
Who needs a peer tutor at school when you live with one? Labels: Kids
And no, the title is not talking about dwarfs, they are my TWO pictures for today. I couldn't decide which most represented today for me...so... Here is Lydia at the pediatrician's office. She looks like she feels great, huh? Turns out she has the flu...so she'll just keep on feeling rotton for a while, poor kid. And on the way home from the doctor, we realized it was a tad windy today. Look at that lake! Yikes.
This old barn has been sitting here forever, watching the world change. An elementary school sprouted across the street and the barn stayed the same. The people that own the land built a big, beautiful brick house, and the barn never changed. A gated community went up right down the road, and there stands the barn. Constant. Steady. Strong. The modern world is a whirl around it- neighborhoods, roads, businesses, and it stays there safely encased in its little bubble. A patch of the past, sitting there untouched. We drive by this barn a lot, and even though I have always wanted to, today was the first day I stopped to take a picture. Maybe part of me knew there was no need to capture it in a photo, because I know it will always be there tomorrow. Can you tell that I love this old beat up building? LOL Labels: Places
the spaghetti at Johnny Carino's is good...at least the small portion that didn't end up stuck to his face. Labels: Kids
...so I had Lydie snap this. I bought a new part to fix my broken computer and spend a good hunk of the day working on it. Right now I am posting FROM my laptop...if you were curious how successful I was working on my big computer. Stupid %$&*ing piece of %$&*ing %&*# computer.
This is the bridge I cross pretty much every day...we live on a peninsula of sorts made by the lake. This bridge is why the schools always shut down at the first sign of ice, which is what we were told to expect today, but much to the kids' disappointment the thermometer got stuck a degree or two above the freezing mark. How the heck does he sleep like that? (I'm not even sure that a photo can capture the actual weirdness of his sleeping position...) Labels: Pets
Its 32 degrees out here. 102 we can handle, but 32 is making us less than friendly. You promised us a movie and "maybe a little shopping"...so you drag us around in the cold, then you throw us in front of a fountain and get out the camera? Seriously? What is the matter with you?
Caveman say, "Us have bad day. You go away, camera holding lady. Arrrgghhh."
This is the local Catholic church..OK, sorta. Mass is actually in the newer, larger, brick structure behind this building, but once upon a time people worshiped in this little chapel. This building started out in downtown(not too far from my picture of the cafe a few days ago) and in recent years was moved to current location, out in the boonies. I don't know what it is about this little building, but it has always just appealed to me, simply driving past it would have me lost in thought. The stories it must have...the baptisms, weddings, the funerals...All that history wrapped up in stained glass windows. Something about it, just makes me happy. Labels: Places
...because my bed seams to be a tad small some nights. Where the heck do I lay down?!? Labels: Kids
Its too cold to play outside. Mom's too lazy to cook lunch. Hmm....Fast food at a place with an indoor playground! Perfect! Labels: Kids
Yes, those are underpants, Ninja Turtle underpants to be exact. No, I do not have an explanation. I walked in, saw this, and he clammed up when he looked up and realized I had my camera so I didn't get a very good quality shot...but I still knew it had to be my picture for today. (All I had planned for today were some stupid birds I saw at my mom's house, anyway. Everyone knows underwear beats birds any day.) Labels: Kids
This is where I spent a good chunk of my afternoon. If you ever need to know where to get a killer bleu cheese burger, I can hook ya up. Labels: Places
Sometime during the night someone(probably teenagers) thought it would be funny to set the school playground on fire...the only thing they weren't able to save was one plastic crawl-through tunnel, which they have removed and boarded up. Its not a big deal, but the entire neighborhood reeked of melting plastic for hours.
The boys whisper like this several times a day, and it is almost always followed by giggling...and yes, I have always wondered what was so funny. Labels: Kids
There is a field at the end of our street where Julie likes to go. Sometimes she gathers bugs, rocks, and critters, sometimes she climbs trees, and sometimes she just sits to collect her thoughts.
If it is cool enough to stop three of the four peanuts in their tracks, but so creepy that they have to convince Sawyer to poke it with a stick while they stay a safe distance away, odds are you really do not want to know what it was. Labels: Kids
Leave a 13 year old in the car alone with a camera for long enough, and strange things happen. Labels: Kids

Umm, no, Sawyer. That's called frost. And yes, you still have to go to school. Brrrrr....poor Spidey. Labels: Places
..when she saw the first picture I posted for today. So here is a shot she chose so I don't have to, like totally, listen to her complain. (The pictures aren't as good as normal because for some reason my camera decided to freak out in the gym and make everything blurry or weird looking, which means I had to edit the hell out of these. Sorry. *shrug*) P.S I am omiting part of the letters in the word ch--rleaders in these posts because of perverts already finding my photo blog by using that as a keyword. Labels: Kids
I chose this one because it made me laugh. For some reason, this picture doesn't make Lydia look like a straight A honor student to me. "Like, no way." "Way" "No way" "Way" "Like, Oh My God, you are like so totally right." "Like, totally." Labels: Kids
I gave every animal in my house(minus the reptiles) a flea bath today. I am fairly certain, however, that Crissy here preferred the fleas to the bath. Labels: Pets
Spencer and I decided to give my new birthday gift, the radio my iPod is plugged into, a whirl.
OK, so we are a tad late un-Christmas-ing our house...Sawyer still had a good time putting away his Nativity set.
I spent my Christmas money on season 2 of House today(*short version) and my bedside table shows exactly how I spent my evening...Chocolate covered cherries(yum), Shiner Bock(double yum), and Hugh Laurie(YUUMMM). (*long version is I have no TV in my room, so if I want to watch TV in bed it has to be on my laptop. I have had season 1 of House on iTunes for a long time and have watched every episode about a thousand times so I wanted season 2, but iTunes doesn't SELL House anymore.) Labels: Stuff
These just my be my new all-time favorite pair of glasses that Julie has ever had. Labels: Kids

Lydia celebrated the New Year like many other Americans....vomiting and feeling miserable...of course she had a stomach bug, *not* a hangover. Labels: Kids |
